Migration updates 24th June 23, 2012
Last week, a large group of wildebeests were on their way towards the Togoro plains near Lobo after having separated from the main group which is currently spread out in the area near Fort Ikoma on the western edge of the park. These group has now reached the Lobo area, a place of scattered acacia trees and rocky outcrops on the eastern edge of the park. It is the group that has come closer to the northern boundary of the Serengeti and mara (but still at a distance of about 30 kilometers to the border) and are estimated to be about 400, 000 individuals. We hope that in the next one week if nothing changes, they will be reaching the sand river area on the border.
