Peter's and his guests were having a good time driving around the Mara Game Reserve as they were heading towards the Sopa region. As they were approaching the Sopa prides territory they came across a cheetah and her three cubs but the high-light of the day was when they came across the Sopa pride. The lions were feeding on a buffalo carcass and just beside was a lioness suckling her cubs. Peter explained to his guests all about the cubs and how they have become the new members of the pride.

The Mara game reserve has received a good amount of rainfall over the last one week making it's vast grassy plains look nice and green.

Ranger Alex and his guests were on a full-day game drive and were headed down to the sand-river. Alex was hoping to find the sand-river pride, after searching for a while he noticed alot of vultures circling and knew there must be a carcass around. As they got closer they saw two Lions cubs struggling to feed on a huge eland carcass. Alex and his guests took time to watch the cubs feed and after a while moved on to see the rest of the pride that was sleeping in the near-by bushes.

on a full day game drive Daniel and his guests had a special moment just a while after getting into the reserve. Daniel stopped to explain the vegetation of the reserve from east to west when the spotter asked him for a pair of binocular. After finishig the explanation sena the spotter asked Daniel if he could drive to the left behind some bushes half  kilometer away as there is surprise!

Just before arriving the dominant male rhino of that area emerged and was somehow in a hurry. It sniffed twice on the ground and Daniel told the guests that it must be following a female. It quickly moved past the car  into the bushes and in a moment we heard a commotion and shortly saw a female with it behind the bushes.

Martial eagle feeds on Rock Hyrax.

A few minutes from the Airstrip at Kogatende while doing an en-route game-drive to the camp, we came across a martial eagle (the largest in Africa) that was enjoying a meal of a rock hyrax. He had pinned down the hyrax  with  both legs and tearing open the carcass with his razor sharp beak. At first he was plucking   hairs off the animal  before tearing  little bits  of flesh  to swallow.

Little lion cubs                                                      

Today on the Kunga circuit, we came across some lion cubs that were playing in the open grasslands They had come out of a nearby  thick bush where their mother was hiding but in full view of every move that they were making. They were about one month old and still highly dependent of their mother. The guests were not willing to take their eyes off them owing to their beauty.

On an early morning game drive, ranger Kokan and his guests watched a lioness emerge from some bushes behind a huge rock where she had left some four others. She walked down the sloppy  parts of the rock, looked down  then went up again the way she came to rejoin others.

Charles left early to Maasai Mara Reserve with a mission to cover along Talek river and  Misigiyoi areas as these are the areas rich with herbivores at the moment which also has attracted the big cats.

While along Talek river the sighting of a lioness with her two healthy cubs was so incredible that they stayed there observing for almost an hour. The lioness licking the cub was so lovely and the response by the cub to lick back the lioness was like" i also do love you mum."

Hippos moving out.                                            

During the hotter days, hippos like getting out of the river to relax and enjoy the sun on the sandy shores. They would not stay long on the shores before heading back into the waters to cool themselves again as their bare skin would not allow them to be out of  the water for long. We watched a group of about 30 hippos moving out of the river in a very slow and  spectacular manner with their heavy heads facing down heading to the sandy shores of the mara river.

Elephants take regular mud baths, this is important to keep the skin moisturerised. The mud also acts as a sun block.

Peter and his four guests were on game-drive around Posee plains when they came across a huge herd of elephants feeding. As they were driving through the herd they noticed three elephants trying to get as much mud on themselves as they could. Peter's guests found it interesting to watch such huge animals try squeeze and fit themselves in the same small mud hole.

Elephant feeding on an acacia. 

 Acacias are some of the preferred diet for the elephants. Today, just closer to the camp, we were  attracted to the sight of a young male elephant that was stripping the back of an acacia tree with its trunk. He had earlier on used his forehead to bend the tree so as to easily reach some of the branches.He worked on the tree for almost half an hour before supplementing with some grass beneath it.
