The mara river crossingPosted by ranger in Bushtops Daily Game Reports |
Reporting Date: 17th August 2012
The mara river crossing.
The wildebeests on the Serengeti side of the Mara river seemed to have changed times of the river crossings in recent days. Instead of the usual mid-morning to late afternoon times, they have decided to be venturing into the waters in the early hours of the day. This is what happened when ranger Kokan and his guests were on game drive. They at first saw a large group of these animals that were grazing about a kilometer away from the river suddenly begin to run towards the river as if being chased by predators, the ranger and guests looked around for the cause but found none. When the wildebeests reached the river, their usual hesitation along the banks did not happen but they quickly started crossing onto the other side while making loud noises.
