Health and Travel

altKenya is a country which has a long standing Tourist Industry and is the location for the African headquarters of the United Nations and countless other international news and non-governmental organisations. As a result regional facilities are well developed compared to other African countries.  we recommend that travellers to Africa should seek the advise of your countries Tropical Institute for the most up to date advice on any medications that you may require for your travels. Kenya is in a malaria zone and this illness is preventable and treatable. Some medication can cause stomach upsets and other side effects, so advise on the latest prophylactic is worth while. We do advise you to wear long shirt sleeves and trousers in the evenings when the mosquito is more active and carry an insect repellent. Each evening an extra precaution is taken by your butler, who sprays your tent as part of preparing the tent. The tent is also designed with mosquito netting over all windows.

There are two private hospitals in Nairobi, which are of international standard: The Nairobi and Aghakan. Please ensure you have adequate health insurance and we recommend temporary membership of the Flying Doctors, who will airlift you to Nairobi in case of an emergency.
